Training of Administrators

Welcome to the site

This website was developed as a web-based solution in response to the need to empower administrators to undertake their role as instructional leaders in the integration process. The site seeks to complement workshops conducted with administrators of primary and secondary school in Barbados. This site is presented as part of a project undertaken by The Audio Visual Aids Department (AVAD), in collaboration with Program Coordinating Unit of Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development (Barbados).

The main objectives of the site are to:

  1. Provide a source of support and guidance for administrators to enable them to facilitate a technology rich environment;
  2. Empower administrators to use data in making leadership decisions;
  3. Assist administrators in the creation and continued development of learning communities that support technology for improved productivity;
  4. Ensure easy access to predetermined Internet sites relevant to the needs of administrators;
  5. Equip administrators with links and information to inspire their confidence;
  6. To provide a website with the required resources to enable administrators to motivate their staff in use of technology;

The website will not only include links to various sites to inform administrators, but it will have appropriate lesson and unit plans specific to syllabus/standards as it relates to the revised curriculum. Administrators and teachers will have access to indigenous media and publications developed by the AVAD. It is proposed that there will also be access to software tutorials, trends in education reform, examples of best practice and general information on technology integration.

Please note that this site is still currently under construction. It is now available for evaluation. Your comments are welcomed.

Independence Activity Pack

This edition of the Independence Activity booklet highlights Health and Wellness, which is an area of serious concern of the medical profession, as well as the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development. The Audio Visual Aids Department (AVAD) takes pleasure in presenting this valuable information for students, teachers and the general public. It is our desire that the enclosed information is used as a catalyst for discussion and research with a common goal of adopting healthy lifestyles.
Your comments are welcomed.
